A Study on Thessalonians
In a world filled with death, war, and evil, how are we to face what feels like an unknowable future? What do we do with our anxiety regarding the days ahead? This 4-week series focuses on the books of 1 and 2 Thessalonians to find comfort and reassurance to those living in uncertain times. How can we take these words to heart, and face the future without fear?
February 10: “Knowing the Future”
Text: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Paul wanted the church in Thessalonica to be thoroughly educated about the Second Coming of Jesus so they wouldn’t be afraid or confused. We can live with confidence in the present when we are biblically informed about the future.
February 17: “When Is the End of the World?”
Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
Every generation had its fair share of “end of the world” predictions. What does the Bible say about when the “end of the world” will be, and how are we to prepare for this unpredictable future?
February 24: “What is God’s Will For My Life?”
Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-24
“What is God’s Will For My Life?” is a question many have asked and will ask. We might not know the day or time of Jesus’s return, but we can always know God’s will for us is to live godly lives of faithful obedience.
March 3: “Living in Tension”
Text: 2 Thessalonians 3:1-13
A misinterpretation of Jesus’ coming back can lead to ‘living like there is no tomorrow.’ Yet Paul speaks against this, and instead teaches the Thessalonians and Christians today how to live in the midst of the tension between what is already here and what is yet to come.
