A CHURCH THAT SHOWS UP

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:35

You are invited to make an impact!

We believe God calls each of us to change the world for the better! At Wesley, we don’t sit on the sidelines. We get out of our seats and into the streets to care for our neighbors. Join a community outreach and serve the hungry and homeless in NJ. Or go global and help with Nyagidha Education Center in Kenya on the other side of the world.

Weekly Mission

Ending Local Hunger.

We are big on feeding people. We collect food for South Plainfield Social Services and partner with New Dover UMC in Edison to make hundreds of sandwiches and collect food for St. Joseph's Food Distribution Center in Elizabeth every Friday. Needed items include pasta, snacks, crackers, cookies, beef stew, tuna, shampoo, cream rinse, Chef Boyardee, sides, potatoes, fruits, oil, and flour.

For more information, click here. To join the Bread Breakers team (Monday night @ 7:00 PM) or arrange drop offs through Wesley Church, please contact Connie Palmer.

We delivered more than 100,000 sandwiches
since the pandemic.

Monthly Missions

November Mission

Diaper Drive

To support young families with babies, we are collecting diapers of all sizes throughout the month of November. Please drop off your donations in the Narthex or Fellowship Hall on Sundays, or in the church office from Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

On Saturday, December 6, we will host a bundling party with a pasta dinner and Christmas caroling. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity for mission and fellowship!

Missions Update

From the Mission Team (11/21/2025):

We had another successful lunch packing session on Monday, Enabling us to deliver 167 lunches to Plainfield.  We will be packing again this Monday with the help of Sharon’s small group.  We welcome your sandwiches.  Bring them to church on Sunday or Monday at 7:00 p.m.

Centenary UMC helped us provide 255 lunches on Friday that were delivered to food distribution centers in Rahway and Elizabeth.

We have collected over 3500 diapers already with still two more weeks before our bundling party on December 6th.  That Saturday we will gather downstairs in Assembly Hall at 4:00 p.m. to repackage the diapers in bundles that will be distributed by Maker’s Place in the Trenton area.  This is a family affair.  Activities will be organized for children who are too young to help with the bundling. But when the work is done, everyone will join together in an Advent Celebration!  Even if you can’t help us bundle you are welcome to come for the Pasta Dinner at 5:00 p.m in Fellowship Hall.  Children will decorate the Christmas tree. Everyone is welcome to add a blessing to the blessing chain.  We share with pasta, meatballs and sausage, salad and garlic bread.  YK will lead us in a joyful music celebration and we will end the evening with ice cream and your homemade cookies.

Our Angel tree is set up in the Narthex.  There are plenty of angels with information on gender, age, size, and some gift ideas inviting you to make some child’s Christmas very merry.  We also filled the tree with angels asking for $25.00 in grocery store coupons to help the families have a bountiful Christmas dinner. Gifts should be wrapped and the angel used as a gift tag.  All gifts need to be returned to the church by December 14th.

The grocery store gift cards can be purchased at church through Lisa McCall.  5% of the gift cards value goes back to church and is deposited in our local food bank mission fund.

This week’s shopping list for the South Plainfield Social Services department:  canned fruit, stuffing, mashed potatoes, oil, Dinty Moore beef stew, frosting, snacks, and toiletries.

As Thanksgiving approaches, let thank God daily for all our blessings and that we can be a blessing to others.
