A CHURCH THAT SHOWS UP

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:35

You are invited to make an impact!

We believe God calls each of us to change the world for the better! At Wesley, we don’t sit on the sidelines. We get out of our seats and into the streets to care for our neighbors. Join a community outreach and serve the hungry and homeless in NJ. Or go global and help with Nyagidha Education Center in Kenya on the other side of the world.

Weekly Mission

Ending Local Hunger.

We are big on feeding people. We collect food for South Plainfield Social Services and partner with New Dover UMC in Edison to make hundreds of sandwiches and collect food for St. Joseph's Food Distribution Center in Elizabeth every Friday. Needed items include pasta, snacks, crackers, cookies, beef stew, tuna, shampoo, cream rinse, Chef Boyardee, sides, potatoes, fruits, oil, and flour.

For more information, click here. To join the Bread Breakers team (Monday night @ 7:00 PM) or arrange drop offs through Wesley Church, please contact Connie Palmer.

We delivered more than 100,000 sandwiches
since the pandemic.

Monthly Missions

January Mission

Pajama Program

Our January Mission campaign supports the Pajama Program by collecting warm, new pajamas and new books for children up to age 12 who are facing difficult circumstances, including financial hardship, foster care, or family separation. A cozy pair of pajamas can help children get the rest they need, and books encourage a love of reading that supports learning and growth. These simple gifts can shape healthy bedtime routines and bring comfort and stability to a child’s life. Donation bins are located in the Narthex and Fellowship Hall, and we are grateful for your care and generosity.

Missions Update

From the Mission Team (2/27/2026):

Last Friday, we packed 191 lunches at New Dover for the St. Joseph’s Food Distribution Center in Elizabeth. Unfortunately due to snow, we did not pack on Monday night, but are ready to do lunches here again on the 2nd. So we need our sandwich makers to come through once again.

We have a short list from the South Plainfield Social Services department: beef stew, instant coffee, cleaning supplies, toiletries, chips, cookies and crackers. They really appreciate that we have been able to keep them well stocked over this crazy winter.

This Sunday begins our campaign to raise funds for UMCOR, the United Methodist Committee on Relief. UMCOR is committed to give assistance where it is most needed especially during times of natural disasters. Our goal this month is to support their administrative costs. This helps to insure that all donations specified for a specific cause are given 100% to that cause. The mission team has approved $500 in matching funds to encourage your donations.

I know we are all hoping to have seen the last of the snow. Not sure it is going to happen. Stay warm and stay safe as you continue to bless others.
