Weekly Mission

Ending Local Hunger.

We are big on feeding people. We collect food for South Plainfield Social Services and partner with New Dover UMC in Edison to make hundreds of sandwiches and collect food for St. Joseph's Food Distribution Center in Elizabeth every Friday. Needed items include pasta, snacks, crackers, cookies, beef stew, tuna, shampoo, cream rinse, Chef Boyardee, sides, potatoes, fruits, oil, and flour.

Monthly Missions

August Mission

Our July and August Backpack Campaign is happening now! Our goal is to fill 50 backpacks for local students in need: 20 for children in Kindergarten through Grade 4, and 10 each for students in Grades 5–6, middle school, and high school. These backpacks will help children in South Plainfield whose families are facing financial challenges begin the school year with the supplies they need for success. A list of requested school supplies and collection drop boxes are available on the stage in Fellowship Hall. Monetary donations are also gratefully accepted. Thank you for your generosity and continued support of our Mission campaigns. Together, we can help local students start the school year with confidence and the tools they need to learn.

Missions Update

From the Mission Team (8/7/2026):

We were able to deliver 119 lunches to the Towers in Plainfield on Tuesday morning. Thank you to everyone who provided sandwiches. We will not be packing this upcoming week , but should be back in the lunchroom on Tuesday the 18th. We will be delivering to two locations that Tuesday so will appreciate anyone who can help out on that date.

We are wrapping up the backpack mission. Thanks to your donations and our matching funds we will be able to fully pack 50 backpacks which will be distributed by the South Plainfield Social Service Department. Please join us in Fellowship Hall after the service on August 16 to help us pack.

As August passes enjoy the remaining days of summer. In September we will remember our friends at the Nyagidha education center and hope to once again hear from Nathan about his visit there. We take pride in being able to support their efforts in providing a well rounded education for the children of the village. We will welcome your monetary support of this mission. We encourage your support with up to $2,000.00 in matching funds.
