Join a community outreach and serve the hungry and homeless in NJ. Or go global and help with Nyagidha Education Center in Kenya on the other side of the world.

Weekly Mission

Ending Local Hunger.

We are big on feeding people. We collect food for South Plainfield Social Services and partner with New Dover UMC in Edison to make hundreds of sandwiches and collect food for St. Joseph's Food Distribution Center in Elizabeth every Friday. Needed items include pasta, snacks, crackers, cookies, beef stew, tuna, shampoo, cream rinse, Chef Boyardee, sides, potatoes, fruits, oil, and flour.

September Mission

This month we are supporting the Nyagidha Education Center as they add grades 7–9, helping students complete their education. Your donations will help make this possible, and the Mission Team will match up to $2,000 in giving. See the bulletin board across from the kitchen to learn how your generosity is making a difference!

Missions Update

From the Mission Team (9/11/2026):

Hope everyone enjoyed a pleasant Labor Day weekend. We will be packing lunches on Monday evening at 7:00. Please leave your sandwiches in the refrigerator on Sunday or bring them with you on Monday evening and stay help us pack.

Thank you for the compassion you have shown for our friends in Nyagidha. We are well on our way to surpassing the amount we set aside in matching funds. As of Sunday we have received $1,140 in donations. If you have not taken the opportunity to read some of the students testimonies on the bulletin board across from the kitchen, be sure to take the time to read them. Proof that we can help make a difference in a young life. We will continue to accept donations throughout the month to support the school and help them continue their good works.

We have enough money in the Local Food Mission Fund to donate $500.00 to Star Fish, who provide food for those in need in Plainfield, and $500.00 in grocery store gift cards to the South Plainfield Social Services Department.

This week’s shopping list for South Plainfield Social Services: snacks, cookies, grape and strawberry jelly, crackers, sides, oatmeal, syrup, shampoo and conditioner, dish detergent, juice, oil, and brownie mix.
