A CHURCH THAT SHOWS UP

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:35

You are invited to make an impact!

We believe God calls each of us to change the world for the better! At Wesley, we don’t sit on the sidelines. We get out of our seats and into the streets to care for our neighbors. Join a community outreach and serve the hungry and homeless in NJ. Or go global and help with Nyagidha Education Center in Kenya on the other side of the world.

Weekly Mission

Ending Local Hunger.

We are big on feeding people. We collect food for South Plainfield Social Services and partner with New Dover UMC in Edison to make hundreds of sandwiches and collect food for St. Joseph's Food Distribution Center in Elizabeth every Friday. Needed items include pasta, snacks, crackers, cookies, beef stew, tuna, shampoo, cream rinse, Chef Boyardee, sides, potatoes, fruits, oil, and flour.

For more information, click here. To join the Bread Breakers team (Monday night @ 7:00 PM) or arrange drop offs through Wesley Church, please contact Connie Palmer.

We delivered more than 100,000 sandwiches
since the pandemic.

Monthly Missions

This July and August, our mission focus turns to local outreach as we work to fill 50 backpacks for students in South Plainfield whose families are experiencing financial hardship. These backpacks will be packed with essential supplies for elementary, middle, and high school students, helping to give them a strong and confident start to the new school year. A list of school supplies needed will be shared in the coming weeks. Thank you for your continued generosity and support!

Missions Update

From the Mission Team (7/26/2025)

Still taking a break from packing lunches on Monday.  Hopefully our next session will actually be on Sunday, August 3 after church, since VBS will be in session on Monday evening.  Those lunches will be delivered to a location in Plainfield.  We packed 301 lunches at New Dover last Friday for the food distribution center in Elizabeth and will be packing there again this Friday.

This week’s shopping list for the South Plainfield Social Services Department: oil, rice, snacks (for kids home for the summer), ramen noodles, Chef Boyardee, canned meats, cleaning supplies, pasta and sauce, any instant meals or snacks. Wow, a pretty extensive list this time. They so appreciate our help.

So amazed how you all step up!  Good news!  We are able to meet our goal to cover the salaries of two pastors in Tanzania. We collected $1,430 and matched $1,000.00. So there’s our $2400.00 plus an extra $30.00. Hip, hip, hooray!

Our school supply collection is underway with our goal to pack 50 book bags for students in Kindergarten through High School.  A list of supplies is listed in Fellowship Hall and in the bulletin. We will try to update every week as donations come in.  Monetary donations are always welcome.  We love to go shopping!  Mark your extra giving for school supplies.

So far it has been a challenging summer with high temperatures and horrendous storms. What a blessing it is to know in the midst of all of that, you still take time to be a blessing to others. As my niece, Rebecca would say, “You’re the best!”
