A CHURCH THAT SHOWS UP

“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:35

You are invited to make an impact!

We believe God calls each of us to change the world for the better! At Wesley, we don’t sit on the sidelines. We get out of our seats and into the streets to care for our neighbors. Join a community outreach and serve the hungry and homeless in NJ. Or go global and help with Nyagidha Education Center in Kenya on the other side of the world.

Weekly Mission

Ending Local Hunger.

We are big on feeding people. We collect food for South Plainfield Social Services and partner with New Dover UMC in Edison to make hundreds of sandwiches and collect food for St. Joseph's Food Distribution Center in Elizabeth every Friday. Needed items include pasta, snacks, crackers, cookies, beef stew, tuna, shampoo, cream rinse, Chef Boyardee, sides, potatoes, fruits, oil, and flour.

For more information, click here. To join the Bread Breakers team (Monday night @ 7:00 PM) or arrange drop offs through Wesley Church, please contact Connie Palmer.

We delivered more than 100,000 sandwiches
since the pandemic.

Monthly Missions

August Mission

Our July and August Backpack Campaign is happening now! Our goal is to fill 50 backpacks for local students in need: 20 for children in Kindergarten through Grade 4, and 10 each for students in Grades 5–6, middle school, and high school. These backpacks will help children in South Plainfield whose families are facing financial challenges begin the school year with the supplies they need for success. A list of requested school supplies and collection drop boxes are available on the stage in Fellowship Hall. Monetary donations are also gratefully accepted. Thank you for your generosity and continued support of our Mission campaigns. Together, we can help local students start the school year with confidence and the tools they need to learn.

Missions Update

From the Mission Team (7/17/2026):

It was good to have the gang back packing lunches for Plainfield. 121 lunches were delivered on Tuesday morning.  The team will be packing again this coming Tuesday at 8 a.m.  We will be missing a few of our regulars and would love to have some new faces to help pack.  We are scheduled to deliver to two locations this week so would really appreciate some extra sandwiches.  Leave your sandwiches in the refrigerator downstairs on Sunday, or bring them with you Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m.

New Dover was also busy last week.  We packed and delivered 378 lunches for St. Joseph’s Food Distribution Center in Elizabeth.

Congratulations to the purple team, who earned the most points in the Penny Wars.  If you did not claim your prize, they will be available on Sunday.  The good news is that with the monies in the Penny jars, other donations, and the matching funds, we will be sending Heifer international $1,565.62.  You can continue to support the efforts of this humanitarian organization throughout the year by dropping your coins in the porcelain heifer bank on the table in back of the sanctuary.

Our school supply mission is underway.  Our goal is to fully pack 50 backpacks with the supplies needed for going back to school.  A list of items we are collecting will be in the bulletin.  Please check the sign up boards in Fellowship Hall where you can indicate what you are willing to donate.  Or if you want to leave the shopping to us, you can mark your extra giving for “school supplies “.    Please leave your donations in the boxes on the stage in Fellowship Hall.  The last day to bring in your donations is August 9th.  We will do the necessary shopping the following week. We invite you to help us pack the backpacks in Fellowship Hall on August 16th.

May you have many opportunities to enjoy the summer as you continue to be a blessing to others.
